1. The appearance is divided into aqueous and powder forms. Water agents containing solids generally have 20%, 40% (also known as mother liquor), and 60%, powder containing solids generally 98%.

2. According to the water reducing agent, water reduction and enhancement capacity, divided into ordinary water reducing agent (also known as plasticizer, water reduction rate of not less than 8%, to lignin sulfonate class as a representative [2] ), high-efficiency water reducing agent (also known as superplasticizer, the water reduction rate of not less than 14%, including naphthalene system, dense amine system, amino sulfonate system, aliphatic system, etc. [2] ) and high-performance water reducing agent (water reduction rate of not less than 25%, to polycarboxylic acid system water reducing agent as a representative [ 2]), and are divided into early-strength, standard and slow-setting types.

3. According to the composition, materials are divided into (1) lignin sulfonates; (2) polycyclic aromatic salts; (3) water-soluble resin sulfonates. 4. According to the composition, the chemical composition is usually divided into lignin sulfonate class water reducing agent class, naphthalene high-efficiency water reducing agent class, melamine high-efficiency water reducing agent class, amino sulfonate high-efficiency water reducing agent class, fatty acid high water reducing agent class, polycarboxylate high-efficiency water reducing agent class.

Mechanism of action of water-reducing agents

Dispersing role: cement mixed with water, due to the hydration of cement particles, the surface of cement particles formed a double electric layer structure, so that the formation of solvent water film and cement particles with anisotropic charges on the surface of the cement particles between the cement particles to produce a connection effect, so that the cement slurry formed a flocculation structure so that 10% to 30% of the mixed water is wrapped in the cement particles, can not participate in the free flow and lubrication effect, thus affecting the fluidity of the concrete mix. When the water-reducing agent is added, as the water-reducing agent molecules can be directed to adsorb on the surface of the cement particles so that the surface of the cement particles with the same charge (usually negative charge), the formation of electrostatic repulsion, prompting the cement particles to disperse each other, flocculation structure disintegration, the release of the wrapped part of the water, participate in the flow, so as to effectively increase the fluidity of the concrete mix.

Lubrication: the hydrophilic group in the water-reducing agent is very polar, so the water-reducing agent adsorption film on the surface of the cement particles can form a layer of stable solventized water film with water molecules; this layer of water film has a good lubricating effect, which can effectively reduce the sliding resistance between cement particles, thus further improving the fluidity of concrete.

Spatial site resistance: hydrophilic branched chain in the structure of the water-reducing agent, stretching in the aqueous solution, thus forming a certain thickness of hydrophilic three-dimensional adsorption layer on the surface of the adsorbed cement particles. When the cement particles are close together, the adsorption layer starts to overlap, i.e., a spatial bit resistance is generated between the cement particles. The more overlap, the greater the spatial bit resistance repulsion and the greater the obstruction to the cohesion between the cement particles, which makes the concrete slump remain good.

Graft copolymerization branched chain of slow release: new water-reducing agent such as polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent in the process of preparation, the water-reducing agent molecules grafted on some branched chain, the branched-chain can not only provide spatial site resistance effect but also, in the high alkalinity environment of cement hydration, the branched-chain can also be slowly cut off, thus releasing the polycarboxylic acid with dispersion effect, to improve the dispersion effect of cement particles and control slump loss.
