Nature of Bismuth oxide

The main application objects include zinc oxide varistors, ceramic capacitors, ferrite magnetic materials, red glass compounding agents, etc.

 

The manufacturing method of Bismuth oxide

Add a carbon dioxide-free sodium hydroxide aqueous solution dropwise to a bismuth nitrate solution (80-90° C.), and mix it. The answer remains alkaline during precipitation, and a white, volume-expanding bismuth oxide hydrate Bi(OH)3 precipitate is formed. The solution is heated and stirred briefly to dehydrate and turn into yellow bismuth trioxide. Wash by decantation with water, filter and dry to obtain finished bismuth oxide.

Under nitrogen atmosphere, add 1.5 mol/L sodium hydroxide aqueous solution without carbon dioxide dropwise to 0.1 mol/L bismuth nitrate solution (at 80-90° C.) dissolved in 1 mol/L nitric acid, and mix them. The solution remains alkaline during precipitation. Although a white, volume-expanding bismuth oxide hydrate Bi(OH)3 precipitate is formed, stirring in the hot key for a while dehydrates and turns into light yellow bismuth trioxide. It was washed 15 times by decantation with water free of air and carbon dioxide, filtered and dried.
