5A molecularsieve is calcium A-type silicon aluminate. A molecular sieve 5A can absorb molecules whose critical size is less than 5A. Any molecular molecules which can be adsorbed using 3A or 4A molecular sieve can also be used by the 5A type. By selective adsorption, righteous alkanes are separated from branched chain hydrocarbons or cyclic hydrocarbons. It's currently being used to industrially separate large amounts of normal isomericalkane. 5A molecular sieve may also be used to produce pressure swing-adsorption hydrogen.
